ACCESSIBILITY
The goal of the Domestic Violence Coordinating web site is to provide each visitor with efficient, intuitive pathways to the services or information that they seek. This includes striving for a high degree of usability for people with barriers to web interaction whether they be technological, linguistic or need for assistive technologies due to impairment or disability. This site is being designed to be compatible with a variety of web browsers and operating systems and to provide maximum compliance with accessibility guidelines:

Alternate Media, Pages and Tags
Alternative versions of animations, images and audio are provided with links leading to them in the regular site context. A synchronized text captioned version of the main introduction presentation can be seen at: http://www.dvcc.delaware.gov/intro3cc.html.
A text-only version is available at http://www.dvcc.delaware.gov/text.html.
All images on this site are accompanied by a brief alt-text tag which identifies the image or its function. If you are using a graphic browser, alt-text tags are visible only if the browser's automatic image-loading feature is turned off. In many browsers they appear if your cursor is held on the image for a few seconds.
Complex images are followed by a "D" link. Selecting this D-link will open a new window in your browser and present a textual description of the image in a new browser window. The description is typically two or three sentences long. Closing this window will take you back to the original page.
Hyperlinks
Text hyperlinks are written so that they make sense when read out of context. Java links on the left navigation table are designed to be ignored by non-java browsers and speech synthesizer software. Links to all pages are provided at the end of the text content of each page for easy of access to the main page content without redundant reading of page links.
Tables
Layout tables used on this site are designed to make sense when the page is 'linearized', or read by a speech synthesizer left-to-right. Each data table has a summary which provides additional information about the table's contents when this is needed for clarity.
